Premiere California EdTech Association Announces Top Keynote Speakers
to Present at 2016 CETPA 56th Annual Conference

Sacramento, Calif., Aug. 3, 2016 - In its 56th year, the California Educational Technology Professionals Association(CETPA) is gearing up for the largest and most popular conference and exhibitor’ showcase the non-profit organization has ever produced. More than 1,200 participants and over 200 vendors are anticipated to attend this year’s conference and showcase that will be held November 8-11, at the Sacramento Convention Center, located at 1400 J Street, Sacramento, Ca., 95814.

The opening keynote will feature Dr. Ayanna Howard, a highly recognized leader in robotics and bio engineering, professor, founder and CTO of Zyrobotics, a Georgia Tech Atlanta based VentureLab startup. She is considered by MIT Technology Review as a top young innovator and noted as one of the 23 most powerful women engineers in the world by Business Insider. With decades of experience and research in humanized intelligence, from scientific rover navigation in glacier environments to assistive robots for the home, to countless published works, Dr. Howard has also demonstrated her value among education leaders with her robotic inventions and dedication to the teaching and technology landscape within the education system. Her presentation will complement this year’s event alongside the highly anticipated Future Innovators Showcase and other innovative trends that are sure to take us to another level in the future of technology in education.

The President’s Keynote on the second day of the conference will feature a famous explorer and historian, and U.S. Navy Commander, Dr. Robert Ballard, known for his popular TedX talks and discovery of the Titanic and many other sunken ships worldwide. His fascinating journeys will teach us a great deal about our past so that we can take strides in technology of more magnitude, in a parallel universe to oceanic exploration. With 22 honorary degrees and six military awards under his belt, Dr. Ballard is a lifelong learner, with a scientific mind full of discovery. His Hubbard award for “extraordinary accomplishments in coaxing secrets from the world’s oceans and engaging students in the wonder of science,” is a perfect premise for an innovative year as we discover our inner potential to further shape the world of education technology.

Erin Gruwell
will close the conference on the last day as the final keynote presenter. Her award-winning reputation as a top educator and founder of the Freedom Writers Foundation precedes her as she has made significant impact as a thought leader and change agent who fights for equality in education and inspires teachers and students worldwide through her work. Noted for her accomplishments during the Civil Rights movement and beyond, she fosters an educational
philosophy that values and promotes diversity, and transforms lives. With the ever changing landscape in the California education system, there is no doubt that Erin Gruwell will deliver a powerful presentation at a time where the climate of diversity and change is upon us more than ever.

CETPA is an ideal conference for anyone interested in the support of educational technology. The special sessions and Expo hall include partners such as Fagen, Friedman & Fulfrost, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Cisco, and educational vendors such as Aeries Software, Follett, and Infinity Communications and Consulting.
